Stowmarket is a medium sized town based in Suffolk. It has a population of around 19,000 people and traffic can be high during peak times in the town centre. Stowmarket is mostly residential but it has a town centre and links to the other towns through the dual-carriageway on the A14. It is between two other large places Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich to the south-east.
When you embark on your intensive driving course in Stowmarket, you will get to practice the in-car basics like the POM routine, D.S.S.SM routine and mirror checks as well as more complex topics like responding to other road users and emerging at blind junctions. Your course will also be based in other towns like Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich and Sudbury to practice on more types of roads.
Your crash course in Stowmarket will also include trips to local villages to gain knowledge on rural and country driving. You may visit places like Creeting St Peter, Stowupland, Great Finborough, Buxhall, Combs, Little London, Harleston, Haughley, Old Newton, Gipping, Needham Market, Forward Green, Wetherden, Haughley Green and Middlewood Green.
The last few hours of your training will be kept back until you reach the date of your practical test appointment. If your test is in the afternoon, you will receive some pre-test training the same day. If in the morning, you will receive your remaining course hours the day before.
