How To Get To Orkney Test Centre
Start your journey by heading north to the town of Inverness, then take the A9 road towards Thurso. This scenic route winds through the Highlands, offering views of rolling hills and dramatic coastlines. When you reach Thurso, take the A836 east to Scrabster where you can catch a ferry to Stromness in Orkney. NorthLink Ferries operates this crossing, which takes about 90 minutes. Another option is to drive to Gills Bay and board a Pentland Ferries service that sails to St. Margaret’s Hope. If you’re coming from Aberdeen or further south, consider flying to Kirkwall Airport with Loganair. Booking in advance ensures availability and better rates for both ferry and flight options. While in Orkney, renting a car is recommended to explore the islands’ attractions, such as Skara Brae and the Ring of Brodgar. Be mindful of variable weather and check conditions before traveling.
