As with every DVSA test centre, from 12 May 2026 only the candidate can book or manage their own practical test appointment, so make sure the booking is registered under your own name rather than an instructor’s before you travel. Bring your provisional licence and confirmation details, and allow plenty of time given the islands’ transport links depend on ferry and flight schedules rather than road traffic. Every test opens with an eyesight check and a couple of vehicle safety questions before around 40 minutes of driving, so arriving a little early to settle in is worth it after a crossing. How To Get To Isles of Scilly Test Centre
Reaching the Isles of Scilly starts with getting to Penzance, either by driving the A30 through Cornwall or by train from London or Exeter. From Penzance, the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company runs the Scillonian III ferry on a roughly two-and-a-half-hour crossing to St Mary’s.
