Booking is a personal responsibility from 12 May 2026 onward: only the candidate can book, reschedule or cancel their own DVSA practical test, so make sure your own details, not an instructor’s or a parent’s, are on the account. The theory test costs £23 and is a prerequisite for booking; a weekday practical test costs £62. Getting to the Nuneaton Test Centre Test Centre
From Birmingham, take the M6 and come off at the A444 exit, following the signposts into Nuneaton; the same A444 works well from Coventry too, running fairly directly into town. Direct trains from Coventry and Birmingham New Street take about 25 minutes and land you at a station that’s close to the centre of things, so getting into Nuneaton without a car is straightforward.
Parking in town is available around the Ropewalk Shopping Centre if you’re driving in for a lesson or your test, and local buses cover routes out to the surrounding villages if public transport suits your day better. The B4114 is worth knowing too: it crosses the River Anker and gives a good sense of the more rural driving the examiner might route you through, with Arbury Hall visible on the outskirts as a landmark.
Check live traffic before setting off, especially around the shopping centre at busy times, and give yourself a buffer so a hold-up on the A444 doesn’t turn into a rushed arrival. Don’t forget your provisional licence photocard, since it’s checked before the test starts and there’s no way round that requirement.
