Crawley Theory Test Centre

Crawley Theory Test Centre is centrally placed for learners across mid-Sussex and the Surrey border, close enough to Gatwick that many candidates combine a test slot with other errands nearby. The £23 fee is paid at booking through GOV.UK, and slots here tend to move quickly, so it pays to book as soon as your provisional licence arrives. Because Crawley is one of the higher-demand centres in the South East, a cancellation can appear with very little notice, so it is worth checking GOV.UK daily rather than only at the point you plan to book.

Learners regularly travel in from Horsham, Reigate, Dorking, Haywards Heath and Caterham, all of which are a reasonable drive from Crawley but further from any comparable DVSA venue.

A Silver 25 intensive course pairs naturally with a theory test booked here, since LPOD can line up practical lessons for the days right after you pass rather than leaving a gap. Check our theory test costs guide if you want the fee breakdown before you commit to a booking.

You need 43 out of 50 on the multiple-choice questions and 44 out of 75 on hazard perception to pass, with both marks required on the same visit. The certificate runs for two years from your pass date, which is your deadline for booking and sitting the practical test. A fail means a three-working-day wait before DVSA will let you book Crawley again, so it pays to revise properly rather than treat the first sitting as a dry run.

Directions To Centre

Parking near the centre can fill early on weekday mornings, so arriving with a few extra minutes in hand avoids any last-minute stress before your slot. For a smooth drive in, take the M23 and leave at junction 10, following the signs towards Crawley. Rail travellers should get off at Crawley station, which is only a short walk from the centre. Local buses also serve the area well, with several routes stopping close enough to the test centre to make the trip hassle-free.

Because the M23 can back up around the junction 10 interchange at peak times, build in a margin rather than timing your journey to the minute. You will need a provisional licence to sit the test, covering both the 50-question section and the hazard perception clips, and DVSA will not let you in once your slot has started. Once you have passed, keep in mind that since 12 May 2026 the practical test booking must be made and managed by you personally, not through a driving school. Crawley’s proximity to Gatwick means traffic can build up unpredictably around the motorway junction, so build in slack if you are travelling during the working week.

Why Book With LPOD Academy?

Do I need to pass my theory test before booking an LPOD course?
No, you do not need a theory pass to book a course with us. Many learners sit their theory test early in an intensive week, so it is still fresh once the practical lessons begin.

Can LPOD book my theory test for me?
Yes. We can book your theory test for you as an optional add-on, £60 all in, which includes the £23 DVSA fee.

What does the LPOD theory course cover?
Our in-house online theory course covers all 14 topics, hazard perception and case studies, so you arrive at this centre fully prepared.
