Doncaster Theory Test Centre

Doncaster Theory Test Centre, on Sidings Court, is the main DVSA venue for South Yorkshire’s eastern edge, and the £23 fee is payable when you book online through GOV.UK. Free parking near the centre makes it a straightforward option for learners driving themselves to the test. As one of the larger South Yorkshire venues, Doncaster tends to run more sessions per day than the smaller towns nearby, which can translate into earlier available dates.

The catchment reaches into Worksop, Thorne, Gainsborough, Tickhill and Sprotbrough, all within reasonable striking distance of Doncaster for learners without a closer DVSA theory centre.

A Gold 35 intensive course from LPOD gives learners testing at Doncaster enough practical hours either side of the theory stage to keep momentum going rather than losing weeks between the two tests. Read our theory test costs guide for the fee breakdown.

DVSA’s pass mark is 43 out of 50 on the multiple-choice questions and 44 out of 75 on hazard perception, with both needed on the same day to pass. The certificate is then valid for two years, which is your deadline for booking and sitting the practical test. Miss either mark and you will face a three-working-day wait before Doncaster will take another booking, so it is worth preparing thoroughly rather than gambling on a first attempt.

Directions To Centre

If you are driving, put Sidings Court into your GPS; free parking is available nearby. Coming by train, get off at Doncaster Station and take a short taxi ride the rest of the way. If the bus suits you better, head for the Frenchgate Interchange and pick up a local service such as the 73 or 78 to get within walking distance.

Give yourself a margin on the journey in, since a late arrival means DVSA will not admit you and the fee is lost. You will need your provisional licence at the desk, and the test itself covers 50 multiple-choice questions plus a hazard perception section based on video clips. Once you have your pass certificate, keep in mind that from 12 May 2026 only you can book or manage your DVSA practical test, not your instructor or a booking agent. Sidings Court sits close enough to the Frenchgate Interchange that combining a bus journey with a short walk is often quicker than driving into the centre at peak times. Because the interchange serves so many bus routes, check the departure board rather than assuming your usual service number still stops in the same bay.

Why Book With LPOD Academy?

Do I need to pass my theory test before booking an LPOD course?
No, you do not need a theory pass to book a course with us. Many learners sit their theory test early in an intensive week, so it is still fresh once the practical lessons begin.

Can LPOD book my theory test for me?
Yes. We can book your theory test for you as an optional add-on, £60 all in, which includes the £23 DVSA fee.

What does the LPOD theory course cover?
Our in-house online theory course covers all 14 topics, hazard perception and case studies, so you arrive at this centre fully prepared.
