Drivers heading in normally pick up the A594 and follow it toward the city centre, where parking is available nearby once you are off the main road; anyone coming from Leicester Forest East, Oadby or Wigston should expect a stretch of dual carriageway before the final run of town-centre streets. Leicester Railway Station is a short walk from the city centre, which makes the train a realistic option if you are travelling from Market Harborough, Corby or Peterborough. Local bus services also stop close to Humberstone Gate and Charles Street, both a brief stroll from the test centre door. Learners from Coalville, Hinckley, Syston, Ashby de la Zouch and Lutterworth often choose Leicester for their theory test precisely because the city-centre venue is easier to reach by public transport than some of the smaller Leicestershire towns. From 12 May 2026, DVSA also requires the candidate to book and manage their own practical test once theory is passed, so keep your own login details safe rather than leaving that step entirely to an instructor.
