Saxmundham also has its own station on the East Suffolk Line, with regular services from Ipswich, and the walk from the platform to the centre is short. Bus travellers can use routes such as the 64 and 65, which connect Saxmundham to surrounding towns, though it’s worth checking the timetable since rural routes run less often than in-city services.

Inside the centre, the appointment covers a multiple-choice section on the Highway Code followed by a hazard perception section made up of video clips, both of which have to be passed together; DVSA won’t let you rebook for at least three working days if either part falls short. A theory pass stays valid for two years, giving plenty of scope to book a practical test once you’re ready, though from 12 May 2026 it’s the candidate who must book and manage that DVSA appointment directly rather than an instructor doing it for them.

Rural routes reward familiarity more than raw confidence, so pair your theory revision with a few practice drives along the A12 and the surrounding lanes if you can, and work through hazard perception clips in short bursts rather than all at once. A missed pass on either section means a minimum three working day wait before DVSA lets you book a resit, so it’s worth turning up properly prepared rather than treating the first sitting as practice.
