Cambridge is a medium sized city based in the county of Cambridgeshire. Famous for its university, University of Cambridge, and its cyclists – Cambridge city it a hub of activity. With great commuting links to the East via the A14, and by railway to London, Cambridge is perfectly situated for your intensive driving course. Learning to drive in Cambridge will give you the edge when it comes to life on the road. It willbe hard, and challenging – yet rewarding! If you fancy a challenge why not give the A14 ago, this dual carriageway is known as the ‘busiest trunk road to the east of the country!’. It may be even harder than a motorway! With ample of opportunities for overtaking, driving at high-speeds and of course, coming off along some of those rural roads.
Driving in Cambridge itself will definitely give you the edge when compared to other smaller places or towns and cities. With the vast amount of cyclists, buses, and taxis – you will definitely need to keep an avid eye out for all of those cyclists and hazards! Once you are more confident with the basics, your driving instructor will guide you to more advanced driving pieces. These may include travelling to places such as Ely, Newmarket and Bury St Edmunds.
There are lots of villages that surround Cambridge and during your learning journey, it is important to drive on country lanes and rural roads. Such villages you may visit are Grantchester, Fen Ditton, Teversham, Madingley, Girton, Histon, Impington, Milton, Horningsea, Barton, Hauxton, Little Shelford, Great Shelford, Stapleford and Haslingfield, Chittering, Histon, Cottenham, Oakington, Longstanton, Fulbourn, Swavesey. When driving to remote places – you will be spoilt with extra training and experiences. Your driving instructor will plan your training to include small hamlets, narrow lanes, hills, and of course encountering horse riders and hazards! The last few hours of your intensive driving course will be reserved for the test day. During this time, you will be driving around the area where your test resides. Cambridge has a local test centre. This will be your first choice. However, on some occasions, we will need to book your driving test at another test centre. This does depend on the circumstances of your intensive driving course.
We offer courses to all learners with different driving backgrounds. Whether you have recently failed a test or you are turning 17, all of our courses will suit your requirements. On all courses, we offer a free retest on both theory and practical tests as part of any courses booking. Our courses range from 10-hours to 45-hours in duration, we have something for everyone. Typically, the average learner driver needs to have 45 hours of driving lessons to become competent and confident to pass a driving test (DVSA 2017). We offer manual and automatic transmission (inquire for availability) courses. Our intensive driving courses in Cambridge can be flexible around your diary and availability. On the larger courses, pupils tend to book the week of work, or some people prefer to do shorter courses over a weekend. Please let us know your requirements when you book online. All of our driving instructors are Grade A or B and are fully qualified. All courses will be delivered in tuition vehicles that are fitted with dual controls.
