Durham is a market town in the North of England. With a population of 43,000 people, it is a moderately sized town where you will get a vast amount of driving experience. Although, not quite city driving – Durham does have some challenging roads to learn with. Based on the A167, you will get plenty of experience in both single-carriageways and dual-carriageways. Once you have mastered the basics, you may travel out of town to nearby locations such as Ferryhill, Sunderland and Stanley. If you are feeling really brave maybe even travel to Chester-le-Street.
Once you are confident, your driving instructor will incorporate out of town trips to help with building up your confidence with country lanes and small villages and hamlets. Typically these may include places like Burnhope, Esh Winning, Littletown, Haswell, Cassop, Bowburn, Shincliffe, Wheatley Hill, Brancepeth, Willington, Trimdon, Murton, Hunwick, Spennymoor, Trimdon, Meadowfield, Lanchester.
The last part of your course will be focusing on preparing you for your driving test. Once, you and your driving instructor believe you are ready, the remaining few hours will be reserved for test day. As part of your driving test preparations, your driving instructor will do some mock driving tests, and some driving test routes to help you prepare.
