Rothwell is a small market town with a population of over 7,000, offering learner drivers calm and steady roads around the town centre. Due to its rich history and intriguing freshwater lakes, Rothwell occasionally experiences increased traffic from tourism, but nothing too challenging for the average learner driver. The A14 dual carriageway passes through the south of Rothwell, connecting the town to Northampton, Corby, and Kettering.
Your driving instructor will also take you to nearby towns such as Morley, Leeds, and Batley to practice on different types of roads. In particular, Northampton, with its blend of sports culture, history, and industrial activity, presents a variety of road conditions, including heavy traffic and complex road systems. Additionally, you will gain experience in country driving in areas like Desborough, Rushton, Geddington, Great Oakley, Arthingworth, Harrington, Loddington, Mawsley, and Broughton.
In the final stages of your course, your instructor will dedicate the last 3-5 hours to training near the test centre. This will include practicing meeting traffic situations, spotting hazards, and emerging onto dual carriageways, ensuring you are well-prepared for your test.
