Practical test centre in High Wycombe

Wellington Road inside the Cressex Business Park is where High Wycombe’s test centre operates, serving Buckinghamshire towns stretching from Amersham and Chesham in the south to Princes Risborough and beyond in the Chilterns. The M40 is the main route in from London, leaving at Junction 4 onto the A404, while Chiltern Railways trains run from London Marylebone to High Wycombe’s central station in around half an hour. With car, motorcycle and lorry tests all sharing this one site, and no on-site parking for candidates, planning your journey in matters more here than at some other Buckinghamshire centres.

Practical Test Centre Address

The test centre is at Wellington Road, Cressex Business Park, High Wycombe, HP12 3PS. Male and female toilet facilities are provided, along with disabled access, though there is no parking available on site. Car, motorcycle and lorry tests are all conducted here. Learners from Amersham, Aylesbury, Marlow and Chesham all travel in for their test too, so this is one of the busier Buckinghamshire centres for booking availability.

How To Get To High Wycombe Test Centre

Leaving the M40 at Junction 4 puts you onto the A404 heading straight into High Wycombe, with the Eden Shopping Centre and Wycombe Swan Theatre both useful landmarks once you’re close to the centre. Chiltern Railways runs a fast, frequent service from London Marylebone into High Wycombe’s central station, and National Express coaches also serve the town if you’d rather not drive or take the train. Since there’s no parking at the test centre itself, walking from the station or being dropped off is usually more reliable than trying to find a space nearby.

Buckinghamshire’s mix of town driving and Chiltern countryside gives examiners plenty to work with on a High Wycombe test route: roundabouts and multi-lane roads near the business park itself, busier high-street style driving closer to the town centre, and quieter, hillier lanes out towards the surrounding villages. Traffic through High Wycombe can build up at peak times too, so an examiner testing your patience in slow-moving traffic isn’t unusual here.

Given how much ground that covers, from business park roundabouts to Chiltern hill roads, an intensive course lets a learner build confidence across all of it within a short, focused block of lessons rather than hoping the right road type comes up on the right day during weekly tuition. LPOD Academy’s Gold 40 and Platinum 50 courses are popular with learners preparing for High Wycombe specifically, given the breadth of driving conditions the test route can draw from.

Since 12 May 2026, DVSA policy puts test booking solely in the candidate’s hands, not an instructor’s, so make sure your own account is set up with your provisional licence details ready in advance. High Wycombe serves a wide catchment of Buckinghamshire towns, so demand for test slots here can be higher than you’d expect from the town’s size alone, and checking regularly for cancellations is often the quickest way to bring a test date forward. Our guide on getting a cancellation driving test appointment covers how to go about that.

Given how much the driving here shifts between business park roundabouts and hillier Chiltern lanes, instructors preparing learners for High Wycombe tend to run a mock test covering both within the same session, timed close to the real appointment, so any nerves that show up during that transition get addressed while there’s still time to fix them, rather than being discovered for the first time in front of an examiner on test day itself.

On the morning of your test, allow extra time given the lack of on-site parking, and consider arriving by train if you can, since it removes one source of stress from a day that already has enough of them. Bring your provisional licence, and a passport too if it’s a paper licence rather than a photocard.

Why Book With LPOD Academy?

Can LPOD book my practical test at this centre for me?
No. Since 12 May 2026, only you can book, change or manage your DVSA practical test. LPOD provides test date support instead: centre and timing guidance as standard, plus an optional Test Alerts + Booking Strategy add-on (£50) if you’d like us actively watching for earlier dates and helping you plan around them.

Which course should I choose before my test?
It depends on your experience. Complete beginners usually start with a Gold or Platinum course, while learners who have already had lessons or sat a test before often suit a Silver or Bronze course. Try our course recommendation tool for a personal suggestion.

Are LPOD instructors qualified?
Yes. Every LPOD instructor is a DVSA-approved ADI, paid full market rates, so you get a properly qualified instructor rather than the cheapest bidder.
