Since 12 May 2026, the candidate must book and manage their own DVSA practical test directly, so check that your own account, rather than an instructor’s, holds the booking reference before your appointment. Bring your provisional licence and confirmation with you on the day, and arrive early given parking can fill up at busier times. The test itself follows the same structure used nationally: an eyesight check and vehicle safety questions first, then roughly 40 minutes of driving with an independent driving section built in, so knowing that shape in advance helps take some of the nerves out of the wait.
