Take the M1 from either the north or south and leave at Junction 33 onto the A630, which leads directly towards Dinnington. The centre is well signposted from the main road. Rail travellers can use Rotherham Central Station, which has regular services from Sheffield and Leeds, though the test centre itself is some distance out at Dinnington, so a bus or taxi connection is usually needed for the final leg. Bus routes link Rotherham with the surrounding towns fairly extensively, and landmarks such as the New York Stadium or Clifton Park are useful if you are navigating the town centre before heading out to Dinnington.
Because candidates arrive from so many different directions, routes here draw on the A630 corridor and the roundabouts around Dinnington itself, along with residential streets nearer the centre where parked cars and pedestrian crossings need steady observation. LPOD Academy Bronze 10 and LPOD Academy Gold 40 both put a mock test near the end of the course so this mix feels familiar, and our guide to applying for a provisional licence is worth reading early if your provisional has not yet arrived, since a test date cannot be confirmed without it.
Allow extra time to reach Nobel Way given its distance from Rotherham town centre, and bring your provisional licence to every appointment, along with glasses or contact lenses if you need them to read a number plate for the eyesight check. Since 12 May 2026, only the candidate is able to book or amend their own DVSA practical test slot, so set your own account up ahead of test day.
With candidates arriving from so many surrounding towns, some choose to bring their instructor along as an observer for reassurance, something the DVSA permits as standard once it is agreed at the desk. An unsuccessful attempt means waiting a minimum of ten working days before a retest can be booked, and the transmission used on test day determines what follows: an automatic pass restricts the licence to automatics only, while a manual pass allows both. If you bring your own car rather than an instructor’s, it must be insured, taxed and display L plates correctly.
