Scarborough Driving Test Centre, 3A Londesborough Road, Scarborough, YO12 5AW. There are no toilet facilities at the centre, and parking is available but spaces may be limited, so allow extra time if you are driving yourself there. The centre is accessible for those with disabilities, and it offers car, motorcycle, and ADI part 2 and 3 tests. Bring your provisional licence and booking confirmation with you, as the test cannot start without them. A weekday car test costs £62 through the DVSA, settled online when the appointment is booked. Candidates on LPOD Academy Silver 30 usually cover the Londesborough Road area as part of their course, so the route in on test day is already familiar, and the course finishes with a mock test that runs through the same format the examiner will use, hill starts included.
How to Get to Scarborough Test Centre Test Centre
Coming from York, head northeast on the A64, following signs for Scarborough the whole way; the road passes through the Yorkshire Wolds landscape en route. Trains from Leeds or York run directly into Scarborough station, and the journey offers good views of the surrounding countryside if you would rather not drive. National coach services also connect Scarborough with a number of major cities, and if you are driving yourself, travelling outside peak holiday periods tends to mean lighter traffic on the approach roads.
Once in the town, local buses and taxis cover the short distance out to Londesborough Road easily enough, and the town centre itself is walkable given its compact size, though the seafront hills mean it is worth pacing yourself if you are on foot. Scarborough Castle and South Bay are useful landmarks for orientation. Given the steeper streets around the harbour, some Scarborough candidates prefer to bring their instructor in as an observer, which the DVSA allows once it has been agreed at reception. A failed test means waiting at least ten working days before a retest can be booked, and the transmission used on the day has lasting consequences, since an automatic pass restricts the resulting licence to automatics only.
