Eastbourne Theory Test Centre

Eastbourne Theory Test Centre, on Pevensey Road, is where learners across the Eastbourne and Wealden area sit their DVSA theory test. Bookings and the £23 fee are handled entirely through gov.uk rather than through LPOD Academy or the test centre directly. DVSA test centre listings deliberately don’t include a full street-level address beyond the general location; your booking confirmation will have the specifics for the day.

Once you’ve passed, the next step is booking a practical test, and from 12 May 2026 that booking has to be made and managed by you as the candidate, not by a driving school on your behalf. LPOD Academy’s Gold 40 course is popular with learners aiming to pass the practical soon after clearing the theory, since it’s designed to fit a concentrated run of lessons into a short window. Learners from Hastings, Hailsham, Seaford and Polegate regularly sit their theory test at this centre. DVSA charges separately for the practical stage too, £62 on a weekday, which comes after and in addition to the £23 theory fee.

Directions To Centre

Drivers heading to the Eastbourne centre should aim for Pevensey Road and look for parking options nearby, since there’s no guarantee of space directly outside. Eastbourne railway station is a reasonable option too, roughly a ten-minute walk from the centre. If the bus suits you better, several local routes stop close to Pevensey Road; check the timetable for the route that gets you closest.

Give yourself more time than the walk or drive strictly needs, particularly if you’re relying on a bus timetable that could run a few minutes late. You’ll need your provisional licence and the booking confirmation to be admitted, and arriving after your slot starts usually means losing the fee entirely. For the full picture on what the fee includes and how resits are priced, LPOD’s guide to theory test costs and payment covers it in plain terms.

There are 50 multiple-choice questions to work through, with 43 needed to pass, and then 14 hazard perception clips, where the pass mark is 44 out of a possible 75. Each candidate sits alone at an individual booth rather than in a shared room, and bags and phones stay in a locker for the duration. Bring photo ID that matches your booking, be it a provisional licence or passport, since staff check this before letting anyone through. You’ll get the result straight after finishing rather than having to wait days for it to arrive. If your first attempt doesn’t go your way, DVSA requires a wait of at least three working days before you’re able to book a resit, so build that into any revision plan.

Why Book With LPOD Academy?

Do I need to pass my theory test before booking an LPOD course?
No, you do not need a theory pass to book a course with us. Many learners sit their theory test early in an intensive week, so it is still fresh once the practical lessons begin.

Can LPOD book my theory test for me?
Yes. We can book your theory test for you as an optional add-on, £60 all in, which includes the £23 DVSA fee.

What does the LPOD theory course cover?
Our in-house online theory course covers all 14 topics, hazard perception and case studies, so you arrive at this centre fully prepared.
