Practical test centre in Bridlington

Seaside geography shapes a lot of what happens at the Bridlington test centre, with routes drawing in candidates from Driffield, Filey, Scarborough, Hunmanby, and Withernsea along the East Yorkshire coast. Test routes here mix industrial estate roads near Bessingby with the busier seasonal traffic around the town centre and seafront, so timing your practice around quieter or busier periods can make a real difference to how the test feels on the day. Candidates who only ever drive the quiet version of Bridlington’s roads can find the summer seafront traffic a genuine shock, which is exactly the kind of gap focused lessons are built to close.

Practical Test Centre Address

Bridlington Driving Test Centre is located at Bessingby Industrial Estate, Bessingby Way, Bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire, YO16 4SJ. Toilets are available inside, though there is no parking on-site, so factor in where you will leave the car before your appointment. Disabled access is provided, and both car and motorcycle tests run from this centre. Keep your provisional licence and booking confirmation with you, and remember that since 12 May 2026 only the candidate can manage or reschedule their own practical test with DVSA directly. Because there’s no on-site parking, allow a few extra minutes to find a nearby space and walk in without rushing.

How To Get To Bridlington Test Centre

From Hull, the A1033 connects through to the A165 heading northeast into Bridlington, while drivers coming from York can pick up the A64, switch to the A166, and finish on the B1253 for a more scenic run in. Either the A614 or A165 works depending on your starting point, and both roads see a decent mix of roundabouts and dual-carriageway sections that turn up again on test routes from this centre.

Bridlington station has direct rail connections from Hull and Scarborough, sitting centrally enough that you can walk into town on arrival, and East Yorkshire Buses run routes linking Bridlington with the surrounding towns for anyone without a car. Bridlington Priory and the Spa are useful landmarks if you are driving in and want a visual check that you are close, and cyclists can follow the Way of the Roses trail into town, though it is not the fastest option on test day itself.

Summer brings noticeably heavier traffic and tighter parking, so arriving early in the day is worth doing during those months specifically, on top of the general advice to get there ahead of your slot regardless of season. Much of the town is easy enough to explore on foot once you have arrived. A Silver 30 intensive course through LPOD Academy covers this mix of coastal roundabouts and town-centre driving in a concentrated block, and our guide on how intensive courses work explains what a typical week of lessons looks like before you book.

Outside peak season, Bridlington’s roads settle down considerably, so a test booked for autumn or winter will likely feel calmer than one booked in July or August. Either way, bring your provisional licence, arrive with a few minutes spare rather than racing the clock, and treat the drive in as a last chance to settle any nerves before the examiner calls your name. Learners who only ever drive Bridlington’s roads in quiet conditions can be caught out by how differently the same junctions behave once the seafront gets busy, so building a session or two around a livelier period into your course is worth discussing with your instructor ahead of test day. The Bessingby Industrial Estate itself is fairly quiet outside of business hours, which makes it a reasonable spot for early manoeuvre practice before heading into the busier parts of town that examiners are more likely to route you through.

Why Book With LPOD Academy?

Can LPOD book my practical test at this centre for me?
No. Since 12 May 2026, only you can book, change or manage your DVSA practical test. LPOD provides test date support instead: centre and timing guidance as standard, plus an optional Test Alerts + Booking Strategy add-on (£50) if you’d like us actively watching for earlier dates and helping you plan around them.

Which course should I choose before my test?
It depends on your experience. Complete beginners usually start with a Gold or Platinum course, while learners who have already had lessons or sat a test before often suit a Silver or Bronze course. Try our course recommendation tool for a personal suggestion.

Are LPOD instructors qualified?
Yes. Every LPOD instructor is a DVSA-approved ADI, paid full market rates, so you get a properly qualified instructor rather than the cheapest bidder.
